Licensed Marriage and Family Therapist #107981
My name is Shelly “Nicole” Baroldy and I am a Licensed Marriage and Family Therapist. My journey to become a therapist started young as I was always the person my friends went to in order to find a non-judgmental place to talk about their struggles and difficulties. I knew early on that I wanted to dedicate my life to helping others and so when I went off to college, I obtained my Bachelor’s Degree in Sociology with a minor in Women’s Studies from Vanguard University. I was not sure where to go with this degree until I decided to go to therapy myself and realized that I wanted to walk with people through counseling. I went back to school, found my passion for being a therapist, and received my Master’s Degree in Clinical Psychology from Azusa Pacific University, after which I obtained my license in Marriage and Family Therapy.
As a therapist I have experience in working in a multitude of roles, including in community clinics and schools. I have worked for almost 10 years with high risk youth and their families. I love working with teens, young adults, and adults and have experience with suicidal ideation, depression, anxiety, relationship issues, life transitions, difficulties with self-esteem/confidence, and trauma. I strive to create safe, non-judgmental, collaborative space for my clients to process, grow, and heal. We all go through times in our lives were we cannot hold everything alone and we need additional support, I want to be that support for you. In counseling, I don’t believe that one-size-fits all and so I use an eclectic therapeutic approach to meet each person where they are and explore with my clients to find what works for them. I use Cognitive-Behavioral Therapy (CBT), Dialectic Behavioral Therapy (DBT), Person Centered Therapy, and Metaphor Therapy approaches when working with my clients.
In my own time, I enjoy going hiking, trailer camping, traveling domestically and internationally, finding new coffee places and restaurants to enjoy, and being with friends and family. I highly believe in self-care, coping skills, and continued growth, which means not asking anything of my clients that I would not do myself. In order to create a trusting relationship with my clients I believe in being authentic and honest with myself and others.
It is truly an honor and a privilege to walk with my clients and I hope I can be apart of your journey. To schedule an appointment or a free 15 minute consultation to determine if we would be a good fit in working together please contact me at (909) 529-0849 or Nicole.baroldy@gmail.com
